Abstract :	The purpose of this educational package is to introduce the concepts of online information retrival. These are discussed in the context of the conventional library techniques. The programme covers the equipment needed for online information retrival, how an online search works and some thoughts on how online services may change traditional library activities. The programme slao includes a consideration of videotex systems (prestel, ceefax and oracle) and their potential for public libraries as mentioned. The Package is intended for people needing general introduction to online information services. It should be useful to education and training officers in public library authorities, library school lectures and any other professionals interested in or responsible for educational and training programmes for today's professional information worker. This co-operation programme ws developed as one result of the British Library Research and Development Departments's research and at the studying the feasibility of online information retrieval in public libraries in England and Scotland.
