Abstract :	The middle East Council of Churches There are at present some 120000 christians in he West Bank, Gaza and Israel. Most of hem are Palestininans. Theirs is a presence that began within the early church... a witness that continues in the same land today. The first family is from Taibeh, a West Bank village where nine out of ten families are christians. Many of its people have emigrated. Those who remains pay a price. The second family story is from Beit Sahour, a closely-knit community, whose churches are still. When the town refused to pay taxes to the occupation authorities, its families were punished.
